This poem came to be written upon returning home and finding a box of marvelous food supplements sent by dear saints for my health.
The Box Upon the Porch
We drove back in our drive that day,
No different from the usual way.
But there upon the porch there lay,
A box before the door.
Our son had often ordered parts,
To be delivered to our address;
But this, at very first sight seemed to be;
Quite different from the rest.
For my heart’s eye fashioned a sense of care;
That seemed to await us there.
No motorcycle parts were these,
But for far more beneficial needs.
When finally the box was in my hand;
It was confirmed it came from another land.
A land of love and constant care;
In that box awaiting me there.
For upon it’s opening I did find,
Much love and care revealed inside.
The care within was larger than the box outside;
Unbelievable how love overrides!
And spills beyond the containment source;
Flowing on to health’s wondrous course.
And the little note well expressed it all,
In voice of Love’s Eternal echo called.
For those who love are of God Most High.
But how came I to have such love applied?
Diseased spirit doth grace take care,
And bodily health I found in there —
That little box upon my porch!
God richly bless and keep you,
