A WORD FROM THE THRONE
Revelation 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
The only contact we have ever had with the Invisible Essence of Eternal God is the Word! Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. He appears in the first verses of the written record as “God said!” Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
The Person of the Word always brings life and light! Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
And the Person of the Word IS God, and is WITH God! John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
And after that word of the annunciation for creation, there came to be seen the word of the Incarnation of the Creator! John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
And the Word became so in order that he might be seen and known for fellowship with mankind! 1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
Therefore to have seen the Incarnate Word, and to have heard his speech, was to have seen and heard the Eternal Invisible Essence of God! John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
So first, he spoke through his creation. Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
Romans 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
But prior to his Incarnation he did speak, not only through his created order, but also through his prophets. Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
But here in our text in the Revelation of Jesus Christ we have the Word on the throne, having accomplished the creation of the natural order by his enabling word, and the creation of the spiritual order by the same. And this word, to those with spiritual ears to hear, gives his accom-plishment of that completed redemption. The apostle sets forth the same in Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
But this is not an apostle, nor prophet, setting forth that which he was inspired to report! This is the very Word himself, enthroned, speaking of that which he has now irreversibly accomplished! The prophet Daniel set forth his enthronement. Daniel 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. 10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. 11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. 12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time. 13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
Once the beast kingdoms of the Babylonians, Medes, Persians, Greeks and Romans had their dominion taken away, the Son of man ascended to the enthronement at the right hand of the majesty on high! His spiritual kingdom is set up by the appearance of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Daniel’s prophecy is fulfilled! Jesus Christ is presently reigning! Therefore we have, as has been stated, not a prophesy of a future reign. Nor do we even have an apostle stating that he is reigning. But we have the King of kings sitting enthroned, setting forth by his own mouth the accomplishment of eternal redemption. Daniel prophesied of this also. He foretold that he should finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness,… (Daniel 9:24). But again, this is the enthroned king stating that he has done this.
This redemption satisfied the Father. Isaiah 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
And it established justification for those for whom he died. For the Holy Spirit would make personal application of that accomplished redemption in their individual lives. Romans 4:24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
And also, this Word of Truth forever destroyed the works of the Devil, the Father of lies! 1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Therefore, the enthroned King, lifted up to sit by the majesty on high, speaks of his accomplished redemption again, as he did when he was lifted up on his cross. John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. But only those born again, or, born ‘from above’ can either see or enter his kingdom! John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
It was the voice of the Word that brought natural creation. It was the voice of the Word which spoke through his prophets in the Old Testament. It is the voice of the Word, sitting enthroned, which speaks through the apostles and their written record. Therefore it shall also be the voice of the Sovereign Word as he returns to earth which shall raise the very dead! 1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
As his voice through the gospel has raised those who were dead in trespasses and sins, even so now, shall his voice raise their dead bodies from the earth, as he brings their spirits with him to be reunited and glorified!
The archangel shall give forth the command like as recorded in Matthew 25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Then the trump of God, which has called holy Israel to assemble for the march shall sound with effectual call, as the angels also are assembled to gather all the redeemed. Matthew 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
And then physically dead believers, along with those who are alive and remain shall be caught up to meet Him in the air. For Satan has been defeated on every level and is no longer prince of the power of the air! – And all this, resulting from the voice of the presently reigning Christ!
John 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Then “God” shall include the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, and the glorified church! 1 Corinthians 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
For then shall the Mediator’s prayer request be granted! John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. 24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
But what of the Voice then? Now that all this has been accomplished, shall it now be silent throughout eternal ages? Well, lets just read the scriptures and see.
Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
Isaiah 5:1 Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:
Hosea 2:15 And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
Revelation 14:3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. What do you think?
