GOG AND MAGOG
Revelation 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
The name “Gog” first appears on the pages of the Scriptures in 1 Chronicles 5:4 as simply the son of Joel, of the tribe Reuben. Then the pages are silent concerning this name until we come to chapters thirty-eight and thirty-nine of the Book of Ezekiel. And there it is presented as a massive tribe of enemies of the Lord’s people. They are said to be so numerous as to appear as “a cloud to cover the land” in the latter times. But it shall be the Lord’s doings in order to destroy this massive amount of satanic people. Ezekiel 38:10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: 11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, 16 And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.
The Apostle Peter states that these, not being born again as sheep, but remaining as “natural brute beasts” are “made to be destroyed.” 2 Peter 2:12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
Now we can see in our Revelation twenty passage that the Lord shall repeat this again in the very last days of time, immediately before his second coming. And we take note that Gog and Magog cannot be revealed until Satan shall be loosed after the evangelical church age, referred to as the “thousand years.” For as Satan’s mindset is but to “steal, kill and destroy,” he is required in order that this “evil thought” should come into their minds. For these are also seen as the “ten kings” through whom Satan seeks to destroy the entirety of religion from off the face of the earth. Revelation 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. But they shall be used of God to destroy only the Harlot religion. None of the true Bride of Christ shall be harmed!
Revelation 17:14 ¶ These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. 15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. 16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
This is already at work, as the “Freedom From Religion Foundation” currently has TV commercials featuring Ronald Reagan, Jr. as its spokesperson, soliciting for members and financial support. He ends this plea, looking into the camera with a smile, stating, “And I am not afraid to burn in Hell!”
While referring to God’s regenerating grace in Revelation twenty, verses four through six, we see the phrase “the rest of the dead.” This is referring to humans who are not born again – evangelized but remaining as unbelievers. For all humans are spiritually dead in trespasses and sins! (Ephesians 2:1) Yet doing this time of gospel grace (the 1000 years), they are of the wayside, stony ground, and thorny ground hearers, who have the seed of the gospel understood by them but they do not mix it with believing faith. Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
This gives us a glimpse into the identity of just who “Gog and Magog” really are. They are the evangelized, but unregenerate masses! For Peter tells us that hearing the gospel without faith renders one worse than before he heard it! 2 Peter 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
And the Lord Jesus informed the religious gang in his day that knowing that he was among them, but failing to believe that he is the very Son of God, would seal them up to “die in their sins!” For knowing, but failing to believe, changes one into an irrecoverable state, fitting them for worst judgment! Luke 12:47 And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
For hearing the gospel without faith can produce religious morality in a soul, purging them with only a new morality, but leaving them without the Holy Spirit to ward off future demonic invasions! Matthew 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
Therefore Gog and Magog are but the evangelized, but unregenerate masses, filled with demons in the last days!
The gospel was to be preached to “every creature.” For it was to bring the entire human population into their final state of being. 2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: They are to finally to be either filled with the Holy Spirit, or filled with an unholy spirit! Consider these familiar verses which shed more light on this matter.
Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen. Matthew 13:47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: 48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. 49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, 50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
There seems to be enough light from the Scriptures to warrant the thought that there is a spiritual birth from beneath, as well as the birth from above! Consider the following passage wherein the Lord instructs those present day Jews that he knew that they were physical descendants of Abraham, by natural birth, but they were birthed from “beneath” by their father, the Devil!
John 8:21 ¶ Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. 22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. 23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. 37 I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
John 8:38 ¶ I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. 39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. 41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. 42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. 43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
And there are these individual verses which speak of those who are Satan’s spiritual children: Matthew 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; Acts 13:10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? 1 John 3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
And this verse which reveals the very moment Satan entered into Judas: John 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.
Therefore neither the souls cast into outer darkness, nor those entering into the joys of the Lord shall do so in the same form as they were physically birthed into this world.
For after the Hebrew writer states that it is impossible to renew any soul unto repentance again after being once enlightened, he gives us the very revealing verses: Hebrews 6:7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: 8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. 9 ¶ But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.
All glory to God and the Lamb forever, for the redemption of our soul’s by his marvelous grace! Revelation 5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. 9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
It would be worth your time and effort to read Ezekiel chapters thirty-eight and thirty-nine to further enlighten your sanctified minds concerning “Gog and Magog!”
