UNMOVEABLE
1 Corinthians 15:58 ¶ Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
How does the believer remain “unmoveable” in such an hour as this pandemic? Here are the instructions of our Lord as how to do so when things are coming at you from every direction. Rain from above. Floods rising from below. And the winds are coming from every location.
Matthew 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Rest yourselves as being anchored in Christ. Rest yourselves for it is He who is both your will to do, and your ability to accomplish it! Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Let us consider Hebrews 13:5-8 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. 7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
We must first realize that the 1611 King James word, “conversation” does not simply mean talking. But it means ones “manner of life.” And we see in verse five that our personal manner of life is promoted by three things. First it is established by our lack of covetousness and presence of contentment. (verses five and six) These are based on the truth that God has clearly stated that he will never leave us. Therefore since we have Him, we have everything! 1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
The second thing (verse seven), our contentment is helped by is the provision of God’s anointed ministers as we follow, not their natural opinions, but their faith. And we do so by observing their own “conversations,” or manner of life.
But the third and most important thing, which is but a restating of verse five is found in verse eight. We have stability in all times because of the immutability (changelessness) of our Lord Jesus Christ. For in every segment of time, whether yesterday, or today, and even forever, our Lord is the same. He is the same Rock upon which our house of faith is built. He is the Bread for the feeding of every soul of every believer in every century. He is the same Door for every sheep to enter into the fold of God. He is the Light for every soul, previously in darkness, to discover that their deeds are actually wrought in God. (John 3:21) He is the Truth upon which every lie of Satan may be dashed to pieces, and every ounce of faith hears and exists. (Romans 10:17) He is the True Vine, rooted in God the Father, producing the fruit of the Spirit within even believer. (John 15) He is the Way in which every believer finds their path to eternal life! – AND He never changes!
Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
Psalm 102:25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. 26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: 27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end. 28 The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.
Jesus Christ is the nail fastened in a sure place upon which every believer’s faith may stedfastly hang! Whether it be only a little small tea cup faith, or a huge cooking pot faith, it is upheld and sustained upon Him alone! Isaiah 22:22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. 23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house. 24 And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.
And remember just the smallest mustard seed faith can move mountains! Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
The government of the entire universe, not just on the planet Earth, but in Heaven and Hell, Jesus Christ rules! All government is rested upon His mighty shoulders. (Isaiah 9:6) So he can surely take care of our little patch! Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Ephesians 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Let us strongly consider that when all is seemingly in chaos, even if the entire universe is on fire, THE one thing we should be concerned with is our “conversation!’ That is, our inner godliness and complete resting in Christ and His finished work! 2 Peter 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
When wickedness prevails, let us look within ourselves to pursue a more sanctified life. Psalm 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. 9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
