Mrs. Wright’s Funeral – July 18, 2017
It has been my privilege of serving the dear soul of Sister Hazel Wright for 46 years. She went home to be with our Lord on July 15th of this year. She was ninety three years of age. And she left behind a living testimony to all of her living faith in the Lord Jesus Christ! Her daily walk by faith and continued stedfastness afforded me opportunity to do that which I have never done in all my years of preaching funerals – speak with absolute assurance of one’s being in the presence of the Lord of Glory!
The following is a passage that truly describes our sister’s life before her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. 1 Peter 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; 2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. 3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; 4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
I myself, having been a lost, baptized church member for 7 years before the Holy Spirit quickened me to life in Christ Jesus, know of a certainty that all church members are not true, spiritual borned again christians. And no matter what the hireling preachers always say at funerals, all who die are not saved and do not go to heaven! So why do I believe Mrs. Hazel Wright was saved and is now in heaven?
She was not saved by works. But works afterward proved she was saved! Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
She continued in faith to the end! – Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. 1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Because the Lamb of God went to the cross to prepare a place for her! – John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: (“abode” – v.23), {From “being yet present” – v.25}, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go {to the cross} to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
She believed the Scriptures! – John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
She continued in good works! – James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
She grew in grace! – 2 Peter 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
She loved other believers! – 1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
She believed that Jesus Christ is very God! – 1 John 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
Matthew 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Isaiah 57:1 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.
